Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has flagged off the reconstruction of Adamawa State Stadium Complex abandoned along Yola-Numan Road.

The reconstruction work was awarded to Messrs Aron Nig. Ltd with a completion period of 15 months.

Delivering his speech at the Sports Complex, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri said that the project is significant to the state.

"It is an important project conceived with the best of intentions but abandoned by successive governments" Governor Fintiri said. 

"As government, we have dimensioned the significance of this project to our teaming youths especially our enthusiastic sports men and women and importantly to the investment climate in the state and came to a conclusion that the value it brings to the table far outweighs any pecuniary consideration". 

Governor Fintiri said that the new stadium complex is a fantastic investment. It'll get everyone involved in sports, young and old, keeping them healthy and out of trouble. But it's not just about fitness! This is a golden chance to make Adamawa a sporting powerhouse!

The Governor is thrilled that the stadium will mean no more travelling to other counties for matches. Imagine it – Adamawa United playing at home and trouncing their rivals!

Governor Fintiri explained that sports are becoming increasingly important around the world. Saying, they are not just for fun anymore, but can improve health at any age and are even a big business that makes a lot of money. 
He said that to make the most of this, the state need the right facilities, and the new stadium complex is a great first step.

The Governor stated that the stadium will boost sports in the state. And, will give the young people a proper place to play and develop their talents, allowing them to compete at a national and international level. 

 Governor Fintiri said for the state to maintain its leadership in the region, it needed the right infrastructure to attract investment and grow its economy. 

He expressed optimism that when the stadium is completed, in the future, it will host major sporting events.

The Governor stated that sports are a big business with many opportunities, urgent local businesses to invest in it. Saying the private sector can really drive this forward, and the government's role is to provide the foundation. And, that is what his government is doing with the stadium project.

He disclosed that the construction company has promised to finish the stadium in 15 months, while his government expect them to keep their word, and it expect a high-quality job, as the government will provide funds to ensure timely completion of the project.

The Youth and Sports Development Commissioner, Barrister Wali Yakubu, announced the project's commencement. The fifteen-month project, he said valued at N4.7 billion, will be overseen by the contractor, Mssr Aron Nigeria Limited. Barrister Yakubu emphasised the importance of adhering to project specifications.

The contractor, Mssr Aron Nigeria Limited's representative expressed gratitude to Governor Fintiri for prioritising this "legacy project" and pledged its timely completion and announced that the Adamawa State Government has paid 70% of the contract sum.

Nigerian Super Falcons Coach, Mr Justine Madugu, applauded Governor Fintiri for initiating the project, highlighting its far-reaching influence beyond Nigeria and its potential to empower young people and women.
