INFORMATION UNIT WEEKLY REPORT

In a bit to promote early child grade reading  using robust indigenous multi-lingual curriculum, experts from the education sector drawn from the Adamawa State Ministry of Education and the United State Agency International Development (USAID) have met at the City Green Hotels Yola the venue of the meeting  to cross fertilized ideas on international best practices in domesticating indigenous language in the state education system through training of teachers on Pedagogy using of AI  and other related technology to enhance teaching and learning in the state education system.
 
The resource person from USAID Mrs. Jummai, emphases on the need for school leadership attitudinal change, especial on school monitoring and evaluation by the head teachers, she took time to elaborate on the roles and responsibility of headteachers as;
 Provide School leadership that supports improved learning outcomes.
 Monitor and report pupils progress on grade specific standards when due.
 Form reading groups to encourage reading in school.
 Form reading groups to encourage reading in schools
 Teachers to upgrade their knowledge and skills for evidence-based reading practices
 Support government initiatives that address pupils’ absenteeism and truancy
 Encourage pupil to read at home
 Monitor and report pupils’ progress on grade specific standards when due.
She however summarized that an ideal teacher should be a role model and mentor to his students.
In his remark the Hon. Commissioner of Education and Human Capital Development Mal. Umar Garba Pella PhD. portrayed USAID as a Worthy partner that needs’ to be emulated by others partners. He charged the participants to see themselves as foot soldiers in a state of war against illiteracy. 
The Commissioner, while applauding USAID told the gathering that the state government through the ministry of education, is drafting refunds and educational policies that will wholistically address challenges of education sector in the State.
Dignitaries at the event included the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Education Haj. Aisha M. Umar, Chairman ADSUBEB Dr. Murtal Umar Babayi, Directors, Heads of Boards and parastals of the Ministry and Mr. Godwin Adiku USAID state team lead and his team.
